Salary: £29,504 - £34,757

We are looking for interested candidates with a Mechanical or Electrical bias to join us and work as part of a team maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the electricity network that supplies our customers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical equipment on the network up to 33kV, ensuring maintenance is completed within specific time frames and the network is restored to normal as soon as possible, including emergency response to fault scenarios.
• Join the team involved in the delivery of construction projects in line with agreed KPI’s, including all plant and equipment (both electrical and mechanical) ensuring it is operating within designated limits.
• Assist the maintenance team with switching out the network and restoration switching within authorisation level, including planning on how, when and where all works will take place.
• Attend training courses within this role; if joining outside SSE, courses may be held out of area, but training and accommodation will be provided.
• Act as an ambassador for SSE when interacting with external and internal customers, including National Grid and small‑scale power stations, to deliver world‑class customer service and protect the SSE brand.

Qualifications

• Some experience as an Electrical Fitter / knowledge of the UK Electrical Distribution Network would be advantageous.
• A high regard for safety with great customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills essential for dealing with customer‑related issues face‑to‑face on a daily basis, with service allowing us to achieve broader measure requirements and targets.
• A full UK driving licence and a flexible approach to working hours and work location is a must.

Pay Bands

• SS04 up to £40,939 if you are a qualified Electrical Fitter.
• SS05 up to £45,905 – requires 11kv SAP PTW.
• SS06 up to £51,484 – requires 33kv SAP PTW.
