Job Overview

Reporting to the school administration, the Office Assistant – Elementary will perform secretarial duties as assigned, which may include any or all of the following: reception, word processing, filing, duplicating, processing mail and ensuring integrity of information is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Safe School Arrival by confirming attendance and monitoring attendance patterns.
  • Perform receptionist’s duties by welcoming and verifying visitors to the school and providing assistance and information to students, staff, parents, HPEDSB personnel and community members.
  • Organize, maintain and update student records using the student database.
  • Enroll new students, and register and prepare transfer documents for students.
Qualifications
  • Minimum one‑year college diploma or equivalent to obtain clerical skills.
  • Minimum one‑year of professional experience in a related environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with technology and utilizing office software (e.g., Google), experience with ASPEN is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an office, with experience multitasking and prioritizing.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with various parties such as students, employees, families, etc.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Background check.
