Technical Project Manager - Audio Visual / AV
Our client is recruiting an experienced and versatile Technical Project Manager specialising in all-round Audio Visual to join their team. The Technical Project Manager is crucial in ensuring the highest quality production for a wide variety of live, virtual, and hybrid events. The ideal candidate will contribute to the client’s reputation for technical artistry and exceptional experiences in the live events industry.
Location: Manchester. Permanent position. Salary: £35,000-£38,250 per annum + benefits. Full UK driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a project team, collaborating directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain and develop key client relationships to support business growth
- Attend and chair client meetings and site visits
- Take clear, detailed client briefs and advise on appropriate technical solutions for events
- Develop creative ideas and designs for client events, including preparation of CAD plans
- Specify suitable equipment, create quotations and proposals, and manage budgets
- Update booking software with event progress and milestones
- Book and manage crew and resources, and create crew communication documents
- Liaise with performers, venues, and other third parties
- Prepare and manage health & safety documents and procedures
- Work on-site at venues across the UK and occasionally internationally
- Hands-on rigging/de-rigging and operation of equipment (advantage but not essential)
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and promote products/services to generate new business
- Assist other departments as needed to meet business needs
- Travel for team meetings, site visits, and event execution as required
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the professional live events industry
- Excellent understanding of technical event production with the ability to explain technical solutions clearly
- Enthusiasm for developing creative designs and ideas that exceed client expectations
- Curiosity, resilience, and a can-do attitude
- Polished, professional manner with confidence and enthusiasm for clients
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects and stakeholders
- Leadership skills to lead by example and work effectively as part of a team
- Customer-focused mindset balanced with commercial awareness
- Keen eye for detail and high presentation standards
- Full UK Driving Licence and own transport
Working Hours
This is not a standard 9-5 role. A flexible approach to working hours is required due to the nature of the industry. Weekend work may be required.
