Job summary

A Catholic education trust in the North East is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to provide support to children and assist in creating an interactive learning environment. The role requires previous experience in early years and a good understanding of children's learning. You will work closely with pupils with medical conditions and collaborate effectively with parents. This fixed-term position offers a supportive team environment within a caring school, ensuring each child’s needs are met.

Responsibilities

  • Support the ethos of the school.
  • Establish a good relationship with a pupil with a medical condition, ensuring their medical needs are met.
  • Build a good relationship with the parent/carer, sharing information to support the medical needs of the child.
  • Supervise the child during outdoor learning times and lunch times to monitor and meet health needs.
  • Participate in training, including medical care training, learning activities and performance development.
  • Be flexible, approachable and have a love of working with children.
  • Create a stimulating, organised and interactive learning environment.
  • Communicate well and value teamwork.

Skills

Previous experience working in early years
Experience planning and delivering age-appropriate activities
Good understanding of children's learning
Sound practical, interpersonal and organisational skills
Experience supporting children with SEN
Experience working with children across key stages
