The service is organised into three teams: Schools and Colleges Liaison (SCL), Events and Applicant Experience (E&AP), and Access and the Humber Outreach Programme (Access and HoP). The UK Student Recruitment (UKSR) service aims to attract a diverse pool of high-quality students to apply; widen access and participation; maximise conversion opportunities through face-to-face and online engagement; and – ultimately, grow enrolments according to strategic priorities and intuitional targets. The Student Ambassador (SA) team play a key role in supporting our overall recruitment objectives by using their recent experiences of university to connect with potential future students, to convey the benefits of HE, as well as promoting the University of Hull. The team support outward facing activity (e.g. HE Fairs and recruitment events, delivering tailored presentations during school visits, engaging with school and college staff and students) in target geographies within schools and on campus. They will also support conversion and marketing activity. For example, making outbound approaches to applicants, assisting in the creation of student facing recruitment and marketing materials and digital content, as well as supporting online platforms. Central to this work is the student voice to demonstrate what makes the University of Hull special and ambassadors are a key part of telling this story.The Student Ambassador Team Leader will oversee, direct and lead the SA team including, recruitment, training and ongoing development. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced people manager with knowledge and experience of higher education, an interest in university providing educational opportunity and supporting ambassadors to gain skills and experience that will help them achieve their best during their time studying with us.Duties will include, but not be limited to:* Providing line management support of all Student Ambassadors, including supporting on pastoral and welfare issues as they arise and signposting to relevant central University services as required.* In conjunction with the UKSR leadership team, development of a SA team strategic approach which contributes to the key pillars of raising awareness of the university in our key markets and leveraging the aspects of our offering which make us unique* Develop, create and manage operational plans which support our recruitment priorities.* Work with key teams across the institution who employ ambassadors to support the work in their areas, including academic faculties.* Work with the Careers team to develop a programme of training and development for ambassadors that incorporates some of the approaches to upskilling current students and preparing them for graduate employment.* Liaise with both UKSR colleagues and the wider Marketing, Comms and Student Recruitment service as appropriate to negotiate and coordinate support for key agreed initiatives.* The role holder will also have responsibility to facilitate, support and report on SA team activity as part of the wider UKSR reporting structure.* The role holder will be required on an infrequent basis to carry out basic analysis and research in relation to analysing the performance data for Student Ambassadors to shape the design of training they are given and to ensure that the best Ambassadors are matched with the right work opportunities.* The role holder will be expected to solve day-to-day problems with autonomy on a daily basis as they will be responsible for a clear area of work relating to Student Ambassadors and the functions related to it.
