A sports science organization is offering an exciting opportunity for work placement students in Southampton. You'll support full-time staff across elite sports teams while gaining hands-on experience in training, data analysis, and rehabilitation strategies. This role is ideal for enthusiastic and proactive students currently pursuing a BSc in Sports Science with a mandatory placement year. The sport science team are looking for six work placement students to support the full-time sports science staff across the men’s & women’s 1st team and academy teams in the delivery of cutting‑edge sports science support.
You will be fully integrated within the respective inter‑disciplinary team and will underpin the daily roles and responsibilities of the Sports Science team. Under the guidance of an assigned mentor, you will be exposed to the application of performance development principles in a professional sport setting including, but not limited to: daily monitoring and testing, databasing and reporting data, delivery of field and gym‑based sessions, the delivery of late‑stage rehabilitation, and overseeing of nutritional and recovery strategies.
Throughout the placement you will earn opportunities to develop job specific skillsets, including coaching delivery, programme writing, interpreting data, presenting and sharing insights, reflective practice, working effectively as part of a team, and utilising current technology (inc. Catapult GPS, VALD testing, Power Bi).
We are looking for candidates who can be part of an interdisciplinary team, be proactive and innovative in their approach, and communicate effectively at all levels. Applicants who are passionate, eager to learn and enthusiastic about physical development.
This placement MUST form part of the overall degree programme for you to be considered.
