Job description

Do you have experience of working with people with a learning disability? Are you passionate about working for an organisation that drives change? Then we may have the role for you at Mencap Training Academy.

We’re seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Skill Coach to join our dynamic team in Islington on a full-time, permanent basis (37.5 hours per week).In this crucial role, you’ll be the driving force behind our employability programs, including Supported Internships, providing tailored support to learners with SEND.Do you want to see what we do? You will be accountable for learner progression in the workplace and achieving outcomes for the learner. You will deliver support in various ways; 1-1 job coaching, working with learners to develop employability skills and embed English and Math learning in the workplace. The role aims to support people to learn the skills they need to go on and achieve sustained paid employment.

What You’ll Need (Essential):

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve targets.
  • Strong understanding of safe working practices.
  • A good knowledge of the Educational and SEN sectors.
  • GCSE English & Maths (A-C/9-4 or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for frequent travel within the Staffordshire area.

Please be prepared to provide evidence of your GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at the interview stage.
