Shift Engineer – Chester

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading provider of integrated facilities and corporate real‑estate management. We are recruiting a Critical Services Shift Technician to join the team in Chester.

About the Role

As a CBRE Critical Services Technician, you will resolve and complete day‑to‑day work orders to meet customer satisfaction targets and ensure completion within the required time frame. This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services function, responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

Role Responsibilities
  • Qualify and act as an appointed Authorized Person (AP) within 6 months of onboarding.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date log of work completed and outstanding items through the in‑house system.
  • Ensure that all contractors and staff comply with all company, client safety, and security requirements.
  • Participate in the critical services training program.
  • Maintain effective communication with the client and management team.
  • Work collaboratively with other technicians to share expertise and resolve operational problems.
  • Provide holiday, training & sickness cover for other members of the shift team.
  • Track and complete Critical Services Planned Preventative Maintenance and provide condition assessments of plant and equipment.
  • Log and action all out‑of‑line situations with incident reports.
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems, exercising limited discretion.
  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
Role Requirements
Essential
  • Good technical & fault‑finding skills.
  • Educated to a minimum of City & Guilds in Electrical (or HNC).
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Highly conversant in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Procedure writing.
Desirable
  • Apprenticeship (or equivalent programme in Electrical / Mechanical Installation).
  • Report writing.
Knowledge
Essential
  • Excellent knowledge of the operation of Mechanical & Electrical Services.
  • Ability to interrogate and operate BMS systems.
  • Knowledge of business‑critical services such as UPS, generators and comms rooms.
Desirable
  • 18th Edition IEE regulations.
  • HV trained.
Aptitude
  • Work under own initiative.
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Take ownership of issues and ensure completion.
  • Organise and manage own workload.
  • Good verbal and written communication to all seniority levels.
  • Understanding of customer needs and standards.

Circumstances
  • Required to work 08:00‑17:00, Monday to Friday.
