Job description
Overview

For a quarter of a century, the Jellycat family have brought joy, wonder and playful fun to people of all ages, in every part of the world. Utterly original and in a class of their own, they are currently among the most loved and collected toys of their kind. How has this gentle tribe endeared themselves to so many? Perhaps it is their whimsical expressions. Or the deliciously soft fabrics. Or the beautiful way in which they sit in your hand. Whatever it is, there is something magical and unmistakeable about each one of them.

We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our growing Global Tax team. This newly created role will have responsibility for providing direct tax advisory support across the Jellycat business, overseeing our direct tax strategy and transfer pricing, and leading on direct tax focused projects (such as compliance process improvements, tax planning).

As a Senior Tax Manager, you will be expected to collaborate with various business teams across Jellycat, providing guidance and support as and when needed, and working closely with our colleagues in Finance on day-to-day tax matters. Whilst this role is advisory focused, some review and oversight of the direct tax compliance by the Accounting team may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Providing strategic tax input on key business decision, including cross-border structuring and other commercial proposals.
  • Leading on preparation and readiness for Pillar 2 and CbCr requirements, with support from the Group Finance team.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders (such as Finance, Legal, Sales) on cross-functional projects, acting as the key point of contact for tax. Working with the Senior Leadership Team as appropriate.
  • Managing interactions with tax authorities on direct tax matters.
  • Reviewing, implementing and maintaining appropriate global transfer pricing policies and documentation (with support from external tax advisers).
  • Developing and implementing the direct tax strategy in line with our business objectives and strategy.
  • Input, design and execute direct tax controls and processes to support and build on our global tax strategy.
  • Designing and implementing direct tax guidance on business activities to help support the business with respect to taxes.
  • Managing relationships with external advisers.
  • Building and maintaining strong trusting relationships with internal business partners and key stakeholders.
  • Driving automation and efficiency efforts on our current tax processes whilst ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements.
  • Advising regional Finance teams on local income tax compliance and other reporting obligation matters, as and when required.
  • Overseeing external outsourcing relationships
  • Supporting the Finance team and IT teams with tax input into Finance Transformation projects.
Essential Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant and demonstrable tax experience with strong knowledge of UK tax laws and broad experience with international tax rules.
  • Mixture of professional services (Big 4 preferred) / legal firm and industry experience at a multinational organisation.
  • Qualified Chartered Tax Advisor or similar tax focused qualification.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Sense of urgency and ability to execute quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong ability to develop initial views to complex problems independently.
  • Strong time management and organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at any one time.
  • Strong proficiency in English, other language skills a plus.
Desirable
  • Proficiency in finance and tax software, with experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365.
