Job description

Job Title: Senior Procurement Engineer - Capability Insertion

Location: Warton/Samlesbury - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

What you’ll be doing:
  • You will support strategic procurement across allocated equipment and suppliers
  • You will be delivering value-for-money solutions aligned to customer and programme needs; contribute to programme reviews and track budgets and purchase orders; identify cost-saving opportunities
  • You'll negotiate contracts, pricing, and resolve commercial queries
  • You will monitor supplier performance and monitor associated risks, including the maintenance of key equipment and development programmes
  • You will be building supplier relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Engineering) to ensure on-time programme delivery
  • You'll ensure compliance with procurement processes, life cycle management, and obsolescence strategies
Your skills and experiences:
  • Considerable communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of supplier risk maintenance and building supply chain resilience
  • Experience in multi-faceted programme environments, with the ability to interpret data, propose value-driven solutions, and present clear recommendations
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in obsolescence, redesign, or development project procurement
  • Contract negotiation skills and familiarity with procurement terms and language
  • Awareness of defence or aerospace sector governance
  • Working towards or holding a professional procurement or business qualification (such as MCIPS)
