Job description
Company Overview

As pioneers in the renewable energy space, we don’t just invest in utility‑scale projects; we invest in people, communities and a greener tomorrow. Since stepping into the renewables arena in 2010, we've become a top investor in onshore wind across mainland Europe and the largest backer of solar power in Europe. Today, we proudly manage over £7bn in renewable energy assets worldwide. Our portfolio includes over three hundred major energy‑generating companies, from wind farms to solar power plants, with exciting new ventures in energy storage, e‑fuels and beyond. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for passionate individuals to join our diverse and dedicated team, helping us drive the future of renewable energy forward.

While we maintain a degree of flexibility, this position requires an average of three days in the office per week in London.

Team Overview

The Development Portfolio Management Team at OEGEN is in charge of delivering our development investments and works hand in hand with developers to deliver on the investment cases in changing commercial and market dynamics.

Your mission will be to make our large development portfolio across Europe a huge success. It spans different maturity stages (from early stage land to ready to build) and five countries. We are looking for someone who is very commercially minded, understands renewables development, loves data and communicates clearly with the team and senior stakeholders. The board directors and fund managers will rely on you to support them in decision making and value creation for portfolio companies. The role is responsible for delivering the OEGEN development pipeline to the start of construction. They are responsible for risk identification and mitigation to ensure that the projects are commercially viable. You will be in charge of value maximisation of projects through their development journey (from early stage to ready to build) and lead on exits.

What you’ll do
  • Development Management – Directly manage individual projects from early to late development phase (including overseeing planning condition discharge, grid liaison, contracting). Control the risk management process, development budget and programme delivery.
  • Procurement – Set the contracting strategy for projects. Tender and negotiate all supply, EPC, ICP and O&M contracts in accordance with OEGEN requirements. Manage a range of advisors including technical, legal and planning service providers.
  • Pipeline Quality Oversight – Work closely with development partners to ensure the quality of the projects within the pipeline and support in optimisations. Assess the quality, skill sets and risk appetite and judgement of our development partners. Improve the success rates and timelines for projects reaching the start of construction. Support the board directors and fund managers in making right decisions on projects’ progression through development stages. Participate in steering committees, investment committee presentations and board discussions. Focus on value maximisation through right project‑level optimisation and progress/fail decisions.
  • Relationship Management – Cultivate strong and productive relationships with developers, funds, and other stakeholders to facilitate the successful delivery of objectives.
What you’ll need
  • Extensive experience in developing renewable energy projects with a particular emphasis on the later stages of development.
  • Strong project management and technical background.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, adept at engaging and influencing a diverse stakeholder group.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or related fields.
  • Senior management experience in the renewable energy or related sectors.
  • Proficient in project management, data and reporting.
  • Demonstrated strong problem‑solving skills.
