Location: London

Job Role

Taylor Woodrow are currently recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to work on the exciting new HS2 Station - Old Oak Common. This role will provide the opportunity to work on a monumental part of the HS2 project! If you have experience within Architecture, Build, Infrastructure, Urban Realm and are looking for a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you!

Duties
  • Manage and coordinate all design-related activities across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
  • Ensure that designs meet project specifications, building codes, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Facilitate collaboration between architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
  • Develop and monitor the design program in line with the overall project schedule.
  • Identify design deliverables and ensure timely submission of drawings and documents.
  • Plan design milestones and critical path activities.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities, and internal teams to align on design intent and approvals.
  • Organize and chair design meetings and workshops.
  • Present design updates to stakeholders and resolve any conflicts.
  • Identify design-related risks early and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with health & safety, sustainability, and building regulations.
  • Work with estimators and quantity surveyors to ensure designs are cost-effective.
  • Support value engineering exercises to reduce costs without compromising on quality.
  • Review and approve design changes or variations.
  • Ensure the design output aligns with quality standards and project specifications.
  • Review and check design documents, drawings, and specifications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Provide design clarifications during construction.
  • Monitor design implementation on-site, addressing RFI (Request for Information) and shop drawing reviews.
  • Ensure 'As-Built' drawings and documentation are prepared.
Person Specification
  • Design Management experience (Architecture/Build/Infrastructure/Urban Realm)
  • Good communication skills
  • Degree within related field would be beneficial
  • Beneficial if you have worked on a Joint Venture scheme

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time - 40 hours - Monday to Friday
