Senior Clinical Fellow – Organ Donation

We are recruiting for a 12‑month Senior Clinical Fellow post in Organ Donation with Adult Critical Care at Nottingham University Hospitals from August 2026. The role is for doctors holding Full/Limited GMC registration who have completed at least two years of post‑foundation training and possess a Primary FRCA or equivalent (eg MRCP(UK), MRCEM).

Responsibilities
  • Participate in on‑calls on the Senior (Airway) Critical Care rota (50% of time).
  • Provide leadership to trainees and fellows out of hours under the support of the Duty Critical Care Consultant.
  • Deliver clinical duties at the Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital.
  • Develop a specialist interest in Organ Donation (50% of time) and plan a project with a supervisor.
  • Maintain logbook, facilitate appraisal, and develop a learning plan and portfolio.
  • Advise on and support the implementation of best practice in organ donation and critical care.
Qualifications and Training
  • MB ChB or equivalent with Full/Limited GMC registration.
  • Two years of post‑foundation training in an acute specialty (Anaesthesia, Acute Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or ICM). Successful completion of FY2 in an NHS setting.
  • Primary FRCA or equivalent higher qualification (ALS, ATLS, etc.).
  • One year of anaesthetics experience and three months of critical care experience (or equivalent).
Experience
  • Completion of Stage 1 Critical Care Training and senior on‑call roles in acute specialties.
  • Audit cycle or quality improvement project and participation in research (published or ongoing).
  • Evidence of academic achievement, additional qualifications, or prizes.
Core Skills
  • Stabilisation of deteriorating patients, intubation, initiation of organ support.
  • Competence in bronchoscopy, lung ultrasound, focused echocardiography.
  • Continuous career development and attendance at relevant meetings, courses, or societies.
