Job description

An exciting opportunity has opened within Admiral's Group Procurement team.

This function manages our supply chain's governance and controls to ensure we secure essential goods and services, maximise value, and adhere to all regulations and legal requirements.

The team comprises 15 members, including this position, and is structured to better support our customers. We offer diverse experience and talent and emphasise knowledge sharing. Passionate about our work, we strive for excellence through effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork.

Job Purpose

As a Senior Buyer, you will report to the Group Procurement Manager and manage a specific business area and category of spend, while also assisting the main team. Your responsibilities will include sourcing goods and services, handling tenders, contract renewals, market research, negotiation, and contract development, as well as addressing queries and escalations from your business area.

Main Duties
  • Sourcing goods and services, with a strong emphasis on IT categories.
  • Identifying and managing an appropriate sourcing process to meet customer expectations, governance, and value creation goals.
  • Collaborating closely with internal customers on tenders and contract renewals.
  • Supporting the administration of suppliers, which includes categorising suppliers and assisting the business.
  • Managing the supplier due diligence process, tracking receipt of due diligence questionnaires through to full evaluation, and communicating with customers to manage and record potential risks.
  • Assisting with contract administration, including updating contracts in the contract management system, reporting contract renewals, and updating contract records.
  • Providing support for raising purchase requisitions.
  • Offering general support and completing ad‑hoc tasks as required by Procurement Managers.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in procurement, with extensive knowledge in tender management, and managing contracts and suppliers.
  • MCIPS certification or actively working towards obtaining it, or willing to achieve the necessary qualifications.
  • Financial services Procurement experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience handling medium to high-risk complex tender processes.
  • Proficient stakeholder management skills at a mid to senior level.
  • A proven ability to take initiative and work proactively on various tasks while effectively managing workload priorities.
  • A solid history of delivering value.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities and proficiency in IT.
