Job description

Qualification Scotland is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body. We oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.

We are looking for a senior business accountant to work within the Finance team. This is a fixed-term post until 31 January 2027.

As a senior business accountant, you will lead the improvement of financial management within the directorate and influence the development of first‑class financial controls and reporting. To do this you must have experience in the following specific duties:

  • Continuously improving the finance processes within the directorate
  • Build strong relationships with all senior staff

You must also have the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver messages at the appropriate level
  • Excellent management, leadership and influencing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and use their own initiative to prioritise workloads

Applicants, as a minimum, need to be educated to SCQF Level 9 (degree) ideally in a financial discipline and be a qualified accountant associated with one of the CCAB accounting bodies or undertaking the qualification and in the final examination phase towards completion.
