Job summary

Rights Operations Assistant (Fixed Term Contract)

NB This is a fixed term contract for a minimum period of 12 months.

We are looking for a motivated professional to join us as a Rights Operations Assistant on a fixed term basis of 12 months. You will act as a centralised support function in the Rights Team, responsible for providing administrative, sales enabling and operational support to the team in all the activities. This role has a global remit and is key in contributing to overall Rights revenue growth.

The role involves efficiently managing rights deal fulfilment and processing, including drafting contracts, raising invoices, and tracking payments, while suggesting process improvements and maintaining documentation. It also requires using departmental technology systems to support rights activities, assisting with sales enablement tasks such as creating book fair catalogues and updating customer data, and arranging travel and events. Additionally, the position oversees day-to-day administrative duties, ensuring smooth departmental operations and handling ad hoc tasks as needed.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be:

  • Previous experience within an administrative environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work quickly and methodically, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Adaptable, with strong organisational and time management skills to manage busy workloads
  • System knowledge – experience working with Microsoft Office suite (in particular Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Knowledge of Rights within a publishing setting (desirable)
  • Knowledge of, or experience of working with, specific software systems – IPM, SAP, Biblio (desirable)
