Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our asthma team as a respiratory nurse specialist for a 12 month secondment.

Responsibilities

• Provide valuable support to patients admitted to hospital with an exacerbation of asthma or who are under the care of the asthma clinic based at Salford Royal.
• Act as a role model to staff working outside of the expert team.
• Maintain patient records and databases and have knowledge of the current respiratory pathways.
• Work collaboratively with patients and professional staff delivering high quality care in both the hospital and community settings.
• Visit patients in the acute setting to undertake a review of their asthma, and where appropriate suggest amended plans of care and follow up.
• Work in the asthma biological injection clinic and other outpatient clinics following a period of training and supervision.
• Contribute to smoking cessation support and health promotion.
• Participate in ongoing audit programmes and demonstrate effective teamwork.

Qualifications

• Qualified nurse with a keen interest in the field of respiratory care with post-registration experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
• Experience working within the respiratory specialty is desirable but not essential.
• Experience in clinical audit and data collection is desirable.
• Excellent computer/IT skills, including Microsoft Office Package.
