A local government authority is seeking a candidate for an Emergency Planning role in Kidlington. The successful applicant will lead several planning workstreams, write plans, and conduct training. Key qualifications include experience in a Local Authority or Emergency Planning setting, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple demands. Flexible working options are available, including part-time work. Candidates must be able to drive and live within an hour of Oxfordshire.
We are a team of six based at Fire Service HQ in Kidlington, we work from this office at least two days per week and additionally travel to meetings and training in other locations around the Thames Valley.The team handle a complex workload, managing a wide variety of workstreams and responses to incidents across several organisations both in and out of normal working hours.We work to ensure compliance against several statutory legislations with the whole teamsupportingplanning, training and exercising across all areas. Our purpose is to protect our community, reduce harm and save lives.
To be successful in the role, you will ideally have previous experience of working in a Local Authority, Category 1 organisation, Emergency Planning or Business Continuity environment or the enthusiasm to learn a variety of skills quickly. This role will include several identified planning workstreams which you will take the lead for writing plans and producing training and exercising. This role includes participating in the on-call rota once competent. This is a busy role with many competing demands. This role will involve meeting and working with a variety of staff and partners and attending and Chairing meetings both within the county and in neighbouring counties.
You should have the ability to workindependentlyand be able to prioritise competing demands and pressures to meet the deadlines.Excellent communication, attention to detail, numeracy and literacy skills including ability to gather and compile information in various formats, analyse and presenting the information in a clear way is essential for this role. You should have with the ability to use Microsoft applications effectively.You should be able to work within a team and have flexibility to adapt to challenging incidents that may disrupt planned work and may require out of hours working. You must be able to drive and live within an hour of Oxfordshire.
