# Research Assistant/Associate in Nanotechnology and Device Manufacturing (Fixed Term)A position exists, for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, Cambridge, to work on functionalization of Nanotechnology and Device ManufacturingThe key responsibilities and duties are:1) Device fabrication (photolithography, etch, thin film deposition, etc.) and characterization.2) Functionalization of devices, optimization of morphologies, and research on battery, nanotechnology, and manufacturing with particular focus on:- Optimization of material functionalization.- Battery testing.3) Writing of progress reports to fulfil the requirements of the grant and contribution to research publications of the University's Energy Group.4) Liaison and collaboration with members of the Energy Group and other research teams within the University.5) Organisation and attendance to project relevant meetings with other academic and industrial participants.6) Contribution to the preparation of proposals and applications for funding to external bodies, such as the European Commission and the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are:1) Postgraduate degree at Master's level and above in a relevant discipline such as Chemistry, Physics, Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering2) Experience in clean room, device fabrication and characterization3)Knowledge of batteries, manufacturing processes, and carbon-based materials4) Ability to conduct research independently and with minimal supervisionThe candidate should be able to:- Communicate technical content across specialist and non-specialist audiences- Structure and present technical project reportsThe candidate should have:- Research experience, for example via a dissertation thesis, in device- Experience in analysing measurement dataAppointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD.
