Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Relief Support Workers to join our incredible team in Rawtenstall and Bury.

As a Relief Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.

From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.

This role is to support 2 gentlemen with moderate learning disabilities, 1 of whom has Parkinson's Disease. Due to the progression of the Parkinson's Disease, moving and handling is required, which includes pushing a wheelchair and using a hoist.

Both gentlemen require full support with medication, finances, and some support with personal care. The role will include maintaining their home, tasks such as cleaning and laundry, as well as meal planning and preparation, including support to do the weekly food shop.

Full support is required for the gentlemen to access the community and access activities which they enjoy. Examples of these are going to church, out for meals, to meet with family, bowling, cinema, theatre, days out, and to attend social gatherings.

A driver who is able to drive a manual car is essential for this role.

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.

Contract options:

  • Relief - flexible hours based on availability

All our services are 24hr care.

  • Days: Between 07:00-10:00 AND
  • Sleep-ins: 10:00-07:00
