Job description
Overview

We are looking for a positive, compassionate and caring Support Worker to join our team in Haywards Heath on a relief basis. The role involves supporting three people in supported living who have profound and multiple learning disabilities, autism, sensory impairment and physical disabilities. We prefer a driver but it is not essential.

Key responsibilities
  • Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking healthy meals.
  • Excellent communication skills and relationship building – helping the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
  • Community & social inclusion – supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
  • Personal care – helping people to get ready for the day, prompting medication and assisting with bathing, showering and bathroom use. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
Shift times and hours
  • Days: 07:00-22:00
  • Waking nights: 22:00-07:00
  • Non contractual sleep‑in: enhanced flat rate £63.70
Requirements and qualities
  • Commitment to Mencap and the work we do.
  • Can‑do attitude, motivated, outgoing, caring and calm demeanor.
  • Preferred driver but not essential.
  • Suitable DBS check and references.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.

Visa and sponsorship

This position does not meet the minimum salary requirements for a Health and Care visa under the UK Skilled Worker route. Mencap can offer sponsorship for a licensed sponsor but is not able to support new visa applications or sponsorship requests for this vacancy.
