The Medical Short-Stay Unit (MSU) at Rochester General Hospital is a 38-bed, fast‑paced medical‑surgical unit specializing in caring for patients with an anticipated stay of five days or less. Split between two wings (4100 and 4200), the unit features telemetry monitoring, negative pressure rooms, and a collaborative care model with on‑unit providers, dedicated social work support, and strong nurse leadership. MSU focuses on rapid throughput, high discharge volume, and seamless coordination with the Emergency Department.
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
