Description

Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks is looking to recruit a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the team. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours. This role will include days and nights.

Set in a semi-rural location in Hook, Hampshire, Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks supports the NHS by providing low secure services and level 2 rehabilitation services for both male and female patients. This includes a specialist learning disability and autism spectrum support.

We also offer adult and child, and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), and single-person, bespoke therapeutic placements (BTPs) across our hospital.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalized approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework.
  • Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patient’s named nurse.
  • Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their need and evaluate their progress.
  • Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.
  • Evaluate and respond to changes in patient’s condition and needs.

What you'll bring to the role

The successful candidate will be a Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with 6–12 months’ post-registration experience, holding active NMC registration and having completed a preceptorship programme. They will demonstrate a strong understanding of NMC guidelines, standards and professional practice, with clear evidence of ongoing post-registration continuing professional development. A positive, proactive attitude towards quality improvement and service development is essential, alongside the ability to apply flexible and innovative approaches to practice. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required.
