Quantity Surveyor – Fit Out / Refurbishment

Location: Office-based in Northampton with nationwide travel (once a week on average)

Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Laptop & Phone + Pension + Travel Expenses

Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Holiday: 22 days + Bank Holidays

About the Role

We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Principal Contractor delivering high-specification fit-out and refurbishment projects across the UK.

Projects range from £1m–£4m, with occasional schemes up to £16m, across sectors including stadiums, museums, high‑end retail, hospitality, and commercial interiors.

You’ll take ownership of schemes from pre‑construction through to handover, managing multiple fast‑paced projects with short timelines (typically 4–12 weeks).

Key Responsibilities

• Full commercial management of projects from inception to completion
• Looking after valuations, variations, applications for payment, final accounts
• Assist with procurement of specialist interior packages and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Negotiate and manage subcontractor accounts.
• Measure and value works on‑site
• Run multiple schemes simultaneously (typically 3).
• Manage 4–14 subcontractors per scheme and 8–18 packages per project.
• Attend site visits weekly (or more as required).

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in fit‑out/refurbishment, ideally commercial contracting.
• Will consider a strong Assistant QS or Intermediate QS ready to step up.
• Housing refurbishment experience considered.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage short timelines.
• Strong financial and contractual knowledge.
