Job description

Kirkaldy and Roe are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team. You will be based in our office in Carlisle, Cumbria and will travel to sites throughout North Cumbria and Southwest Scotland. You will be responsible for commercially managing various projects from tender stage through to final account, ensuring the smooth financial management of projects under your control.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexible, adaptable and reliable
  • Ability to work as an integral part of the team
  • Organised and able to work under own initiative
  • Excellent IT skills, primarily Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of project-specific contractual obligations
  • Possess a full UK driving license
Responsibilities
  • Monthly applications
  • Ensure site cost control
  • Remeasurement of works
  • Liaising with project teams regularly
  • Liaise with client quantity surveyors and construction personnel regularly regarding financial and construction matters
  • Able to co-ordinate own workload, liaising with our Contracts Managers and colleagues as necessary
  • Financially manage projects from conception to final account, overseeing contractual commitments, challenging, and supporting the team to identify best value solutions
