About the Role – We are seeking an experienced Project/Senior Structural Engineer to join the Glasgow Office. This opportunity would suit a Project/Senior Structural Engineer who can lead and manage structural engineering projects from conception to completion. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in one of the UK’s leading private Engineering Consultancies, providing integrated solutions for a range of public and private clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Leadership – Managing and deliver UK based projects, in accordance with UK Building Regulations and other relevant UK standards, across a range of the main industry sectors such as industrial, residential, retail, commercial and healthcare.
  • Liaise with and lead other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives.
  • Act as primary point of contact for Clients, Contractors and external Stakeholders, providing technical advice and building strong relationships
  • Structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Undertake analysis and design using a range of software packages including Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds.
  • Ensure that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects, large and small.
  • Prepare high quality technical reports including structural surveys. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in the use of Eurocodes and relevant design codes and standards.
  • The desire and ambition to promote the company from within. This may involve representing Fairhurst at external networking and social events.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE).
  • Varied experience in all the common forms of construction and building types.
  • Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills required.
  • Previous experience in a UK Consultancy
  • Full clean driving license
