Job description

We are currently looking for a Project Manager for a fixed-term contract ending in 2025 to work with the Programme Director on the Society’s Transformation Programme (STAG).

The successful candidate must be able to travel to Scottish SPCA sites throughout Scotland, including Headquarters (Dunfermline), regularly.

  • Salary: £37,928 per annum (BP8)
  • Contract: Fixed Term to end 2025

About the Scottish SPCA

As Scotland’s animal welfare charity since 1839, we protect animals and prevent cruelty. We are Scotland’s animal champions.

By 2032, our vision is to make Scotland the best place for animals to live. This role is crucial in managing key projects within our Transformation Programme (STAG), working to expand and embed our services effectively.

Main duties include:

  1. Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure project delivery within scope, time, and budget.
  2. Defining project objectives and managing the full project lifecycle.
  3. Coordinating and reporting on dependencies, risks, and issues.
  4. Implementing change management strategies across the Society.
  5. Engaging with governance forums for reporting and decision-making.
  6. Leading stakeholder meetings and follow-up actions.
  7. Managing daily project operations and adapting as needed.
  8. Maintaining transparent communication with stakeholders.
  9. Tracking tasks, milestones, and evaluating project progress.
  10. Identifying and mitigating risks to keep projects on track.
  11. Using project management tools effectively.
  12. Building relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
  13. Supporting training and change understanding among colleagues.
  14. Reporting project progress to the PMO and senior management.

Ideal candidate:

  • Experience in project and change management, especially in business transformation.
  • Knowledge of various project methodologies and simplifying communication.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and delivering training.
  • Ability to manage projects against financial KPIs and benefits.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Experience improving processes and operational reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Experience managing resources and ensuring adherence to governance and delivery standards.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and driving clarity and outcomes.
