Job description

We are working in partnership with a highly respected specialist law firm in Leeds, which is seeking a Private Client Solicitor to join its Tier 1-ranked Private Client team. This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of one of the largest and most prestigious private client departments outside of London, recognised for advising on complex, high-value estates and delivering an exceptional standard of client service.

The firm is a trusted adviser to a long-established client base that includes high-net-worth individuals, landed estates, entrepreneurs, and business owners, and is renowned for its technical excellence and long-term client relationships.

The Opportunity

This role is ideally suited to a Private Client Solicitor with 5+ years' PQE who is looking to take the next step within a collaborative, well-established team. You will be involved in sophisticated estate and tax planning matters, working on some of the most complex and high-value private client work in the region.

You will work alongside leading experts in the field within a supportive and flexible working environment, where professional development, work-life balance, and wellbeing are genuinely prioritised.

Key Responsibilities

• Advising on and administering high-value, complex estates, including agricultural, business and cross-border assets
• Preparing inheritance tax returns, probate applications and full estate accounts
• Advising on post‑death tax planning, including deeds of variation and dismissals
• Providing technical advice on succession planning, asset protection and the use of trusts
• Drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney and letters of wishes
• Advising on the use of life policies within estate planning
• Delivering bespoke capital tax planning advice and identifying opportunities for reliefs and deferral
• Ensuring trust compliance, including registration with HMRC's Trust Registration Service

About You

To be considered, you will ideally have:

• At least 5 years' PQE in private client law
• Strong experience in estate administration and tax planning
• STEP qualification or progress towards it (desirable but not essential)
• Excellent technical drafting skills and attention to detail
• A collaborative, client‑focused approach
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied and complex caseload
