Principal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design)

Overview

The transmission and distribution sector is transforming with growing demand, regulatory changes, ambitious carbon reduction targets and new innovations in technology. This role sits in our Energy Team and involves leading FEED design and detailed design for HV substation projects and related works, supporting or leading design across multiple disciplines for refurbishment, extensions and new-build schemes.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects, collaborating with other disciplines.
• Support and/or lead FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects.
• Engage with clients, including key T&D clients in the UK, to develop innovative and sustainable solutions.
• Contribute to delivering projects across a wide range of technical disciplines including HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, OHL, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds and refurbishment works.

About You

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with experience as a HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer.
• Experience in design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and related components.
• Understanding of protection & control (P&C) aspects is preferable.
• Pro-active with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry; able to coach and work within a wider energy team.
• Willing to learn and capable of contributing to a growing energy sector; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
