A leading engineering firm in Preston is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to enhance its team. The role involves providing high-quality engineering design services for water and sewage treatment projects, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Candidates should possess a relevant engineering degree and significant experience in the field. Flexibility for travel to various sites is essential, with a hybrid working model available.
We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer based in our Hattersley (Manchester) office with hybrid working available, work will primarily be for our United Utilities AMP8 Framework on projects in the North West region.
You will report directly to the Mechanical Regional Discipline Lead (RDL) and your role will be to provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. In order to ensure the above the individual must co-ordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.
EssentialA strong understanding of the principles of water and sewage treatment.Have experience of managing members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants.Membership of a professional institution i.e. IMechE and be Incorporated or Chartered.Relevant discipline Engineering degree.Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts.Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, e.g. mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management.A flexible mind, with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data at one time.Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly.Computer literacy.Have the ability to travel to the home office and sites, some of our sites are difficult to access through public transport, meaning a full UK driving license is preferredSuccessful candidates will need to be flexible and willing to spend time in other offices and sites, this is particularly important to the United Utilities Framework where the Engineering team are required to work at times in our clients offices, primarily Lingley Mere (Warrington) but also potential the North Hub (Preston).
