As a Principal Civil Engineer you’ll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities - enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the civil functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all civil aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the design, planning, and execution of civil engineering on projects.
Provide design support and guidance for schemes and ensure all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
Work closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
Engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to support their aims.
Manage interfaces and integration of the civil design with other disciplines and associated documentation.
Act as technical checker on project documents and undertake technical reviews across projects and teams.
Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
Undertake site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems.
Support development of the civil engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skill set and identifying the correct resource for projects.

What You’ll Need

Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field
Chartership (CEng) with a relevant Engineering Institution
Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering including hydraulic and concrete structure design
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Experience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
A willingness to travel to sites across your operational region

Preferred Skills

Experience with sustainable design and green building practices
Proficiency in civil engineering software and tools
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable within the water and wastewater sector
Experience of temporary works design
