Job summary

A leading energy company in the UK is seeking a Primary Asset Inspector to conduct inspections of primary substations and the LV underground network. You will ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and perform routine maintenance tasks. Base Location: Oxford, Slough, West London or Reading

Salary: £34,749 - 40,939 plus benefits including a company vehicle, all necessary tools and equipment and a range of other benefits to support family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time, 37 hours | Onsite

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Primary Asset Inspector to join our team!

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of primary substations and the LV underground network using non‑intrusive diagnostic techniques, in line with ESQCR 2002.
  • Collect and document accurate data to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Identify faults in the distribution network and escalated appropriately, prioritising safety at all times.
  • Perform routine testing and maintenance of batteries and ensure tools and substation equipment are safe and compliant.
  • Take and analyse oil samples from plant equipment to assess asset condition and detect issues such as contamination or degradation.

Requirements:

  • LV authorisations or working towards them with portfolio evidence.
  • Experience and familiarity with Primary assets and the ability to conduct condition assessment.
  • Awareness of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
  • Competence and understanding of Distribution inspection procedures and statutory obligations such as the Distribution Network Operations (DNO) business and Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations.
  • Full UK driving licence (required for travel as the role involves visiting various locations).
