Job summary

A leading scientific research institute in Cambridge is seeking a Phytoplankton Ecologist to conduct laboratory analyses on field samples related to polar ecology. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in marine sciences and possess strong microscopy and numerical analysis skills. Qualifications

  • Experience working with chemicals
  • Ability to work independently and with a small team
  • Good range of scientific computing/IT skills

Responsibilities

  • Microscopy identification and enumeration of Lugol’s samples
  • Processing of pigment samples (chlorophyll a and HPLC)
  • Data processing and interpretation, working with the project lead and the wider science team

Education

PhD or equivalent experience in biology, biochemistry, marine sciences or phytoplankton ecology
