Job summary

An independent fostering agency in the UK is seeking a dedicated Placement Support Worker to build relationships with young people and their foster households. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in child care and an understanding of challenging behaviours. Qualifications

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including non-office hours and weekends.
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS.

Overview

Calon Cymru Fostering is one of the leading independent fostering agencies in South and West Wales. We work in close partnership with local authorities to identify and meet the needs of their children, and provide safe, secure placements.

Based in: Carmarthen which covers Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Placement Support Worker to work to build positive relationships with our young people and their fostering household. The successful candidate will have experience working directly with children/young people within various settings, including time with children/young people who can exhibit challenging behaviours. This role will require the successful candidate to work on a one-to-one basis with our young people, as well as working closely with their foster carers to build relationships and deliver the best outcomes.

The Placement Support Worker will be responsible for attending TATC (Team around the Child) meetings and ensuring that all sessions with the children/young people are recorded in the correct manner.

What we are looking for
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including non-office hours and at weekends
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes; you will be providing support across Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot
  • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS
  • Experience within child care
  • An understanding of challenging behaviours and trauma
  • A good understanding of the needs of looked after children
