Job description

Main duties of the job

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate.
  • Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease‑management protocols and wider national guidance.
  • Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Check, read and interpret pathological results.
  • Ensure appropriate follow‑up of patients.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Ensure that the practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with patient record information, in line with QOF and enhanced services requirements.
  • Appropriate use of read codes.
  • Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  • Prescribe appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice.
  • Work with and provide support for other members of the PCN, practice and primary health care teams.
About us

We are traditional practices that collaborate as a cohesive and well‑developed PCN team. You will be hosted within a supportive environment at two of our PCN practices, located in Wombourne, Claverley, Perton, Bilbrook, Codsall or Featherstone.

We are in South Staffordshire, geographically adjacent to the Wolverhampton/Dudley conurbations, and travel is minimised by agreeing the location with the successful candidate.

We have a well‑established ARRS team, clinical and non‑clinical, working in an MDT approach. You will be part of that team but there is no expectation to offer supervision.

What we offer
  • A permanent BMA salaried contract.
  • Opportunity to develop a specialist interest.
  • A supportive team and GP mentor.
  • 15‑minute appointments.
  • No visits.
