Resident Care Associate position with Viva Senior Living. Responsibilities and qualifications are described below.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Provide direct care to residents and contribute to continuity of care and effective communication by reporting care provided and changes in the resident's condition to the Resident Care Director immediately. May participate in routine activities of resident care, including daily living.
- Respond to inquiries from residents, visitors, and other personnel promptly and courteously within given time frames and established policy.
- Be knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for residents and provide support according to the care plan. Contribute to the care planning process by providing information and observations to the charge nurse or other care planning staff.
- Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors to promote a homelike environment.
- Understand all aspects of residents’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and abuse. Promptly report any incidents or evidence of abuse or violation of residents’ rights to the charge nurse or administrative staff.
- Follow safety and infection control procedures, including hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
- Arrive to work at the scheduled time.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Ensure residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
- Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, or hazardous chemicals according to facility policy.
- Report work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to your supervisor.
- As a condition of employment, complete all assigned training and skills competency.
- Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings.
- Fulfill responsibilities during implementation or activation of the facility’s emergency plan and assist with evacuation of residents in an emergency.
- Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information and report non-compliance or breaches to appropriate personnel.
- Protect residents from abuse and cooperate with investigations; report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment to supervisor and/or administrator.
- Report retaliation or discrimination to the Human Resource Director and the Compliance Officer.
- Fulfill responsibility to report any suspicion of a crime to law enforcement and state agency.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Must maintain the highest standards in caring for residents and residents' family members
- Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures
- Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook
Annual Health Requirements
- Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately
- Must meet the general health requirements as determined by facility policy, including medical and physical examinations
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and agitated residents
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds and carry such weight up to 50 feet
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies
