Join to apply for the Payroll Specialist role at Mortgage Advice Bureau.

Hybrid (3 days in the Derby office, remainder from home). Full-time, 37.5 hours (Monday to Friday).

Up to £30,000 plus benefits and training support.

What You’ll Do
  • Process monthly payrolls in line with UK statutory requirements and internal policies.
  • Maintain and update payroll records (new starters, leavers, pay changes, benefits).
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, pension schemes, and employment legislation.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and statutory reports.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to employee queries with professionalism and care.
  • Produce payroll reports for internal stakeholders and auditors.
  • Stay up to date with payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Support process improvements and system enhancements.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator, Specialist or similar in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory obligations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., IRIS, Sage, ADP) and confident with Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills with an ability to be empathetic and clear when handling queries.
  • Highly trustworthy and discreet with confidential information.
  • Organised, dependable and solution-focused with a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of IRIS/IRIS Cascade is desirable.

  3. Competency-based interview at our Derby office with our hiring manager and a team member.
