A leading investment firm in Croydon is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Assistant to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.   • Assist with P60s, payslips, and P11Ds production.
  • Act as a point of contact for payroll queries.
  • Protect payroll operations by keeping employee information confidential.

About The Role

Cathay Investments Limited is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Assistant to join our HR department. Your primary mission will be to ensure that payroll is processed accurately and on time for all companies within our Group. This is a vital role that involves managing the full payroll cycle, from tracking attendance to ensuring compliance with HMRC.

Reporting to: Associate HR Director

Location: Croydon, London

Salary: £25,000 – £26,000 per annum

Responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing: Manage weekly and monthly payrolls for a subset of group companies, including calculations for gross pay, SSP, SMP, and pro‑rata pay for joiners and leavers.
  • Systems & Data: Monitor time and attendance systems to gather accurate data and manage administrative processes, including holiday allowance calculations.
  • Compliance: Maintain pension auto‑enrolment obligations and ensure all filing requirements with HMRC are met.
  • Documentation: Assist with P60s, payslips, and the production of P11Ds, while maintaining central filing and online storage for employee records.
  • Communication: Act as a point of contact for payroll queries, monitor the payroll inbox, and provide data to the HR team and management upon request.
  • Confidentiality: Protect payroll operations by keeping all employee information strictly confidential.
Qualifications
  • Payroll Experience: Proven experience in processing payroll and/or gross pay calculations, specifically for hourly paid staff.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Sage Payroll is required.
  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of HMRC PAYE rules and UK employment law regarding pay.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively within a team and provide absence cover for other payroll team members when necessary.
