Job summary

A local community organization in Sheffield is looking for a passionate leader to drive service user participation and develop their Action Group. The role involves working closely with the Co-CEOs to enhance support for service users and ensuring their voice is heard in decision-making processes. Applicants should have experience in project management and an understanding of safeguarding. The position offers £30,192 for 28 hours a week, on a part-time basis with additional benefits including annual leave and pension contributions.

Job description
  • To Lead on SYC's service user participation, including development and delivery of the Action Grouyp.
  • To work alongside the Co-CEOs to develop and deliver SYC's development, strategic and campaign work to increase the identification of and support for service users and their families, both locally and nationally.
  • To take the lead in ensuring that service user participation is central to SYC's strategic planning, internal development, and service delivery, that service users are actively involved within the organisation and take part in decision-making processes.
  • To ensure that service users have a voice and influence in local and national services and policy development.
  • To lead and develop our Action Group, ensuring project objectives are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Alongside co CEOs, be responsible for SYC's development and strategic work to increase the identification and improve support for service users both locally and nationally. This will include developing training packages, developing and maintaining relationships with relevant organisation, participating in strategic boards, coordinating networks, plus planning and delivering campaign work.
  • To provide line management / supervision to SYC's Education Development worker.
  • To undertake the role of Deputy Safeguarding Lead with other members of the management team.
  • As a member of the management team, to support the Co CEOs in the organisational development of SYC.
  • To work alongside the Co CEOs and Fundraising Manager to contribute to funding applications and funders' monitoring reports.
  • To undertake additional management of staff, students and volunteers as and when required and agreed.

Other duties:

  • To work closely with SYC staff, trustees and service users, to main good knowledge of SYC's work and the young people and families we support.
  • To work as part of a team and participate in regular supervision meetings, team meetings and training.
  • To contribute to service evaluation and the overall development of SYC.
  • To work in accordance with the policies of SYC, including our safeguarding children and vulnerable adults procedures and our confidentiality framework.
  • To contribute to the organisations positive public profile and carry out all duties in a professional and polite manner in line with SYC's Competency Framework.
  • To evidence SYC;s values at all times, which underpin SYC's vision of 'working with young people to make a difference for life'.
