CHA has an expert orthopedics team that understands bones, muscles, and joints. Our services range from injury evaluation to complex surgery, depending on your specific health needs. We believe that our team provides care that meets or exceeds that found in most other Boston-area hospitals. And, as part of a regional healthcare system, we see patients at three convenient Boston-area locations: CHA Medford Orthopedics, Cambridge Hospital, and the CHA Everett Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Actively and efficiently managing the flow of patients through the clinic.
  • Rooming patients.
  • Assisting providers with medical histories.
  • Documenting in the electronic health record.
  • Checking routine vital signs and point of care testing.
  • Assisting providers with clinical procedures.
  • Booking screening tests as part of the outreach process and booking follow up appointments (e.g., well child visits, vaccine booster visits).
  • Participating in proactive population management of chronic diseases by generating MyCHArt messages, sending templated letters, and calling patients by telephone.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program, completion of an approved certified nursing assistant training program or one year of previous experience as a medical assistant in lieu of program completion required.
  • Certifications: Maintains current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support Certification. Certification from Accredited Institution for Orthopedic Professionals Required within 6 months of hire.
  • Linguistic Capabilities: Ability to write and verbally communicate in English. Fluency in a second language is preferred.
  • Work Experience: Current experience as a Medical Assistant. A minimum of 1 year of Ambulatory Orthopedic Clinic experience preferred. Experience with administrative duties in a clinical setting preferred.
