Job description

Brookson are recruiting for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Onboarding Specialist to join the team, primarily focused on the UK market.

In this role, you will manage the end-to-end onboarding process for both employees and independent contractors, ensuring smooth transitions into their respective roles.

You will work closely with clients, contractors, employees, and our internal teams to deliver a high-quality onboarding experience. A strong understanding of UK employment regulations, including IR35, is highly preferable. There is also potential for the role to evolve into a broader contractor compliance function across the Eาจ region as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Onboarding Process for Employees & Contractors: Manage the full lifecycle of onboarding for both employees and independent contractors in the UK, ensuring a seamless, compliant, and positive experience. This includes gathering all necessary documentation, completing background checks, and ensuring compliance with UK laws and regulations.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with clients, contractors, employees, and the internal team to facilitate a smooth onboarding experience. Provide ongoing support to contractors and employees during the onboarding process, answering questions and addressing any concerns.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Ensure all relevant documents (contracts, tax forms, ID verification, etc.) are gathered, completed, and securely stored in compliance with legal and company requirements. Maintain accurate records for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Internal Team Support: Provide continuous feedback and updates to the internal team regarding any issues or opportunities for improvement in the onboarding process. Work with HR, legal, and finance teams to ensure a smooth and legally compliant onboarding experience.
  • Client & Contractor Communication: Act as the main point of contact for clients, employees, and contractors throughout the onboarding process, ensuring that all parties are kept informed and any issues are resolved promptly.
  • Process Improvement: Regularly review and suggest improvements to onboarding workflows to enhance efficiency, compliance, and user experience. Work on implementing and optimising digital onboarding platforms or processes.
  • Expansion into EMEA Compliance (Future Opportunity): As the business expands, support the contractor compliance initiatives across the EMEA region, adapting to the different legal requirements in each country.
What we’re looking for
  • Strong experience in onboarding, administration, or contractor management, with a focus on the UK.
  • Knowledge of IR35 and UK tax laws related to independent contractors is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients, employees, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with onboarding software or digital platforms is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of employment law and regulations in the UK, with the ability to navigate complex legal and compliance issues.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.li>
  • Experience in compliance or working with contractors is a plus.
  • Experience working in the staffing industry or with managed service providers (MSP).
  • Familiarity with contractor compliance or international employment law (especially within EMEA countries).
  • Experience working with digital onboarding tools or systems.
