Qualifications

Mobile HGV Technician

Location: Flexible, UK

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Mobile HGV Technician supporting national contract operations from home, ideally based in Luton- Bedfordshire area.

The role

As a Mobile HGV Technician, you’ll deliver first-class servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy goods vehicles and specialist fire service equipment to MOT and operational standards.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs, LGVs, and fire service modules.
  • Diagnose faults using recognised test procedures, including road testing where required.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and ISO standards.
  • Record work progress accurately using company IT systems and liaise with the managed service centre and manage / schedule you own workload.
  • Travel to locations within your specified work area to deliver mobile maintenance support, with occasional duties in our Leicestershire based workshop.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This role is full time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm , Starting and finishing at Home , you will be required to be on call 1 weekend in 4 additional overtime hours may be required depending on operational requirements.

Essential experience of the Mobile HGV Technician
  • Proven experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing HGVs/LGVs and specialist fire service equipment.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of hydraulic systems, including repair and testing.
  • Strong attention to detail in fault diagnosis and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience in vehicle electrical diagnostics (desirable).
Qualifications for the Mobile HGV Technician
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in servicing and repair of HGVs/LGVs to MOT standard.
  • Full UK Class C driving licence.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
