Qualifications

  • Experience in a HGV Technician role is essential.
  • HGV Technical qualification is preferred; time-served experience also considered.
  • Experience with auxiliary equipment is advantageous.

Mobile HGV Technician

Salary: £47,167.61 per annum + Bonus + Van + Amazing benefits!

Monday - Friday 07:00 – 16:30 (+ opportunity to join the on-call rota)

Overview

NRG Riverside in Widnes has opened a new Mobile HGV Technician position. The role is depot‑based at our Leeds depot and focuses on the service and repair of a wide variety of vehicles, including refuse trucks. Specialist training will be provided to develop your existing skills on our specialist assets. Who will you be working for?

NRG Riverside is the UK’s largest municipal and specialist fleet hire company. We provide specialist vehicles on short and long‑term hire, maintenance packages and high‑quality used vehicles for sale. Established in 1996, we support customers in rationalising, decarbonising and improving the efficiency of their fleets.

What candidate are we looking for?
  • Experience in a HGV Technician / HGV Engineer / HGV Mechanic / Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile Fleet Engineer role (essential)
  • HGV Technical qualification – NVQ or City & Guilds equivalent. Preferred but time‑served experience also considered.
  • Experience with auxiliary equipment advantageous.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics advantageous.
  • Class 1 or Class 2 licence preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, a great team player, and able to work independently.
What will be your duties?
  • Undertake routine inspection & repair of internal & external customer vehicles within the NRG workshop estate.
  • Opportunity to join the on‑call rota.
  • Work on HGVs and equipment from manufacturers including Mercedes, Dennis Eagle, DAF, Isuzu and Terberg.
  • Conduct commercial vehicle MOT inspections, repairs and final preparation for MOT tests.
  • Attend breakdowns, diagnose and complete necessary repairs to a high standard.
  • Complete all compliance paperwork associated with repair and maintenance of the rental fleet.
