Description

Priory Hospital Ticehurst House is looking to recruit a Medical Secretary to join the team. This is a full time 37.5 hours role.

Set within 48 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens in a small village in East Sussex, Priory Ticehurst House is an idyllic location which allows us to provide a highly therapeutic environment, making us the perfect place for people staying with us to begin their recovery. We work collaboratively with the discharge teams to ensure a smooth transition back into existing community services, or to an individual’s home, where possible.

Priory’s acute services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

  • Provide efficient and effective administrative support to the hospital and particularly the medical team. This will regularly include typing, minute taking, receiving telephone enquiries, diary and appointment management, managing correspondence, meeting and greeting visitors and other administrative tasks as appropriate. You will also be required to liaise with other Priory Healthcare sites and departments, Insurers, GPs and Commissioners regarding specific patient details and invoicing.
  • To provide cross cover within specified Medical Secretaries teams, as assigned by your line manager.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our patients, ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • You will be required to accurately record Independent Consultant time to ensure appropriate invoicing controls are in place for the hospital. Independent Consultant Time is designated as time you spend completing tasks assigned to you by a Consultant.
  • Organise diaries and patient appointments directly with patients and Consultants whilst ensuring the hospital is providing the best possible service to patients.

You can find additional information in the attached job description.

What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The ideal candidate will have excellent computer and Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to audio-type, and a solid understanding of medical terminology. They will be passionate about delivering a high-quality service to the hospital and making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support. Highly organised and detail-oriented, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong prioritisation skills and exceptional attention to detail. They will be a reliable team player who works collaboratively to ensure the department runs effectively, while maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity. With experience in an administrative, customer service, clinical, or other relevant background, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working within established procedures and processes, while also showing adaptability and sound judgement when responding to the needs of patients and their families.
