A leading technology firm is seeking a Mechanical Systems Lead to provide technical support and ensure the safety and efficiency of mechanical systems at their Malmesbury location. Responsibilities include managing compliance and risk assessments, overseeing maintenance, coordinating with contractors, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Candidates should have experience managing complex systems, strong interpersonal skills, and preferably hold IOSH or NEBOSH certifications. You will be responsible for providing technical support and execute to Dyson’s Estates strategies to ensure safe and efficient functioning, andoptimalutilizationof assigned systemswithin the UK estate.
Responsible to:
Head of Hard Services in planning, coordinating, and implementing defined Mechanical systems withinDyson UKFacilities.
Project and System Support:
Participate in reviews,provide feedback& form part of the approval on the implementation of works to our systems via Maintenance & or Projectsto ensure operations align with businessobjectivesand sustainability needs.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all maintenance work follows health, safety, and risk management protocolsin line with all UK regulations. Knowledge of SFG20 would be preferred.
Issue Resolution:
Quickly respond to and investigate system incidents or interruptions, implementing corrective and preventive actions. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve issues.
Work Management:
Manage assigned tasks usingour CAFMsystems, providing clear updates from initiation through completion.
Procedure and Risk Review:
Create and update operating procedures and risk assessments. Contribute to hazard identification and manage risks formechanicalsystems.
Performance Monitoring:
Monitor and report onmechanical systemperformance, recommend and apply improvements when needed, and help achieve key performance targets.
Critical Maintenance:
Schedule, coordinate, andleadessential maintenance activities, including planned shutdowns and upgrades.
Records and Compliance:
Maintainaccuratesystem and maintenance records to ensure traceability and support audit readiness. Support compliance initiatives and performance reporting.
Capacity and Planning:
Track system capacity and usage; recommend upgrades or changes to meet evolving needs.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Provide technical support for new projects, engaging with internal teams and external partners asrequired. Develop strong supplier relationships to drive high-value outcomes.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and evaluatenew technologiesand process improvements. Facilitate adoption of innovations to enhance building performance and efficiency.
Contractor Management:
Oversee the performance and compliance offacilitiescontractors, including budget, scheduling, risk management, and quality oversight. Review and manage contracts to ensure obligations are met.
Audit and Compliance Support:
Assist in regulatory, internal, and external audits. Ensure that facilitiescomply withall relevant standards and company targets.
Strategy and Risk Management:
Own andmaintainrisk registers, align budgets with operational risk tolerance, and lead energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
We're looking someone who:
Experience of managing the maintenance of complex building systems
Experience in the management of Supply Chain & their contracts including setting & managing Key Performance Indicators, realisticobjectives,monitoringperformance and giving feedback.
Experience of managing Health & Safety in a maintenance environment including carrying out. IOSH or NEBOSH desirable.
Experience of undertaking safety audits and risk assessments along with managing permitting processes.
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate technical information clearly and build effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
