What You Need to Know

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Department, contributing to the design, delivery, and support of industrial control systems for the energy sector. The role offers exposure to both subsea and topside systems and the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects from concept through to commissioning.

This role is based at our Subsea Centre of Excellence in Great Yarmouth.

What We Are Looking For
  • Design and implement mechanical aspects of subsea and topside control systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation components
  • Generate engineering documentation to support design, procurement, manufacture, testing, installation, operation, and maintenance
  • Carry out engineering calculations to ensure designs meet required specifications
  • Ensure technical solutions conform to relevant specifications and standards
  • Deliver agreed scopes of supply on time, maintaining high quality, performance, and safety standards
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support manufacturing, testing, and commissioning of systems
  • Ensure compliance of deliverables with company QA/QC requirements
  • Interface with clients to confirm technical solutions meet project specifications
  • Demonstrate involvement, learning, and personal development to enhance technical skills
  • Undertake any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management
  • Work primarily at the Great Yarmouth facility, with occasional UK and overseas site visits for commissioning, testing, or client support
  • Maintain personal fitness and qualifications to support offshore work, including a valid UK driving license and passport
Qualifications /Skills & Experience
Education
  • Engineering qualification in an engineering or energy subject
Preferred
  • Engineering degree (BEng) or equivalent
Experience
Essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Understanding of industrial mechanical and hydraulic control systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and other departments
  • Ability to work unsupervised and prioritise workload
  • Motivated
  • Ability to work within time-cost constraints
  • Ability to self-teach from various sources
  • High level of self-discipline and pride reflected in quality of work
Preferred
  • Track record in delivering subsea and/or topside controls projects
  • Understanding of fluid dynamics and/or structural calculations
  • Familiarity with calculation and analysis software (e.g., MathCAD, CS8)
  • Familiarity with CAD systems (SolidWorks or Autodesk products)
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Knowledge of design/manufacture of UKAS rated equipment
  • Knowledge of materials and their properties
  • Understanding of hazardous area equipment selection, installation, and maintenance
  • On-site/offshore commissioning and/or fault-finding experience
