A leading defense organization is seeking applicants for the Manufacturing Operator Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship based in Bolton. This full-time program offers hands-on training in manufacturing operations, with opportunities to study at Wigan and Leigh College. Candidates need a minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Mathematics, and should be willing to undergo background security checks. An annual salary of £18,000 plus a £3,000 joining bonus is offered.

Salary: £18,000 plus a £3,000 joining bonus. Working location: Bolton. Learning provider location: Wigan and Leigh College. Working pattern: This is a hands-on role and the majority of work will be on site. The Bolton site operates shift patterns. Early start may be required (as early as 7am) to maximise time with experienced team members. There is an opportunity for an early finish on a Friday (college dependent). Security clearance: British Citizen or dual UK national with British citizenship. After offer, successful candidates will undergo BPSS checks managed by MBDA’s Personnel Security Team. Closing date: Midnight on 23 January 2026 (subject to application volumes).
On this 4 year programme you will follow the Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Standard which aligns with IET EngTech professional recognition. In your first year you’ll complete initial training within our Manufacturing Operations Training Facility, then move into manufacturing placements while studying 1 day per week at Wigan and Leigh College.
