Why you should join:

We’re looking for a motivated and hands‑on leader to guide a sub‑team of manufacturing engineers focused on Machining, Plating and Moulding. As a supervisor, you’ll manage daily priorities and workloads, ensuring your team delivers results. You’ll also act as a key deputy to the Manager, stepping in when needed to maintain momentum and leadership.

  • Main responsibility is to manage a small team of Manufacturing & Prove Out Engineers to support the Primary areas (Machining, Plating, 2nd Operations, Welding and Moulding) activities in Hastings
  • Drive improvements within the Primary areas to improve set times & increase output through FY24.
  • Support continuous improvement within the Primary areas to improve CoPQ and Efficiency
  • Use technical expertise to define, document and provide training for current best practice, ensuring cost‑effective, repeatable and high quality practices are used for both existing production and New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Support production areas to achieve their KPIs by attending/driving daily meetings and providing technical solutions to challenges as they arise.
  • Enable the smooth integration of new products into production by documenting tooling, work holding and gauging requirements in routings and specifications.
  • Ensure costs are captured and calculated correctly by maintaining the integrity of routed times, work centres and costed batch sizes in SAP.
  • Keep well‑informed of technical developments and review manufacturing methods.
  • Observe and comply with Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation.
  • Onboard new members to the team, define training plans and monitor progress.
  • Manage team performance both at a group and individual level.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the business from time to time.
  • Deputise for the Manufacturing Engineering Manager as required.
Your ideal background:
  • HNC or Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering or equivalent experience (5+ years)
  • Experience in CNC Machining, Plating, Welding or Moulding is desired
  • Previous experience in a supervisory/team leader role required
  • Computer literate using Microsoft software.
  • Extensive experience maintaining SAP
  • Experience ensuring quality and lessons learned with flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans and quality inspection plans.
  • Identifies and recommends new or improved manufacturing processes and technical developments.
  • Ability to use own initiative to ‘troubleshoot’ problems in Production areas as they arise using industry tools such as 5 why’s, fishbone diagrams and 8D reports.
  • Continuous improvement involving Material Replenishment and Flow, Cell Design, Quick Change Over (SMED), 5S+1, Mistake Proofing and Standards of Work.
  • Drive and passion to deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and be creative.
  • Experience leading teams, either as a line manager or unofficial mentor is required.
