Manager of Legal Talent and Practice Relations (18 Month FTC)

The Manager of Legal Talent and Practice Relations is an integral part of Latham’s Human Capital & Talent team. This role focuses on talent development and retention, overseeing utilisation, development, and integration while advising on broader legal talent and practice management initiatives that align with organisational goals. The position is located in our London office and may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in‑office presence.

Responsibilities
  • Guiding firm committees and Chairs in developing and executing key priorities and talent strategies, facilitating leadership meetings, improving communication channels, and achieving high‑quality outcomes that support the firm’s strategic objectives.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of function/location‑specific policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with legal standards, and staying informed on employment laws and market trends to provide actionable recommendations.
  • Strengthening relationships with the broader Legal Talent team and other business services teams, leading collaborative efforts to support strategic initiatives, and expanding the professional network, enhancing organisational effectiveness.
  • Supporting the firm’s progression, performance review, and compensation processes, offering comprehensive assistance to relevant committees and Chairs throughout these activities.
  • Engaging with global and local attorney development programmes to facilitate the implementation of initiatives, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, including organising, planning, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and effective interaction with all organisational levels.
  • Exhibit proficiency in PC applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and database management, with the ability to conduct thorough analyses and reports.
  • Possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a J.D. or equivalent preferred.
  • Relevant experience in law, legal talent, or professional services.
  • Supervisory experience in a related field, preferably.
