Job description

Hours: 35 hours per week, 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday

(Hybrid working, 3 days in the office, 2 days at home)

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Overall purpose of the role

As a Management Accountant, you will be part of a team to oversee the organisation's financial health. Your expertise in financial analytics, Internal and External reporting will help drive sound decision-making by senior management and help the company achieve its strategic objectives. As a vital team member, you will be critical in interpreting financial data, and identifying areas where further improvements could be made to optimise efficiencies in existing processes and policies.

Objectives of this role
  • Prepare the Annual and half yearly Budget cycle for both Income and Expenses across all Fee earning Departments and Business services.
  • Perform business partnering for Business services throughout the year.
  • Assist in preparation of WIP reports and delivery of annual WIP valuation.
  • Reconcile any financial discrepancies and resolve.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis to budget reports.
  • Work with the Financial accountant to complete the monthly management accounts.
  • Prepare and provide timely financial information to support decision-making processes. Eg Departmental Profitability reporting etc.
  • Assist in updating and developing accounting policies and procedures at Leigh Day.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records on new PMS, Elite 3E, with the view of assistance when required for bookkeeping accuracy upon implementation of Elite 3E.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of daily Cashflow statement and forecast.
Required skills and qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification – Qualified or newly qualified ACCA or CIMA is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Elite 3E & Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent Team skills and have ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with both stakeholders, heads of departments and within the Finance team.
  • Great organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to meet challenging and conflicting deadlines to a consistent standard.
